Animals make us smile

We have spent a lot of time with different animals. If we could make a wish we’d have a house full of paws. But at the moment, that is only possible occasionally.
Our location: We live in a ground floor flat with a beautiful little garden on a quiet street just North of Finsbury Park. Harringay train station is a three minute walk away.
Most recently, we spent the second half of her life with a cat who lived to the age of 22. Over time, we learned how to care for a senior animal whose eye sight, sense of smell, hearing, and habits gradually changed. Drinking became the most delicate activity as she began to refuse drinking water in bowls. The only water she accepted had to be the running kind. To our surprise, she taught us about this new preference as she balanced on the bath tub to reach the tap! A risky maneuvre for a usually so water-shy feline. Hence, whenever we wished to or had to spend a night away, we were reliant on family and friends to kindly stay at our place and follow the cat into the bath room to switch on the shower for her. Bless her.
Consequently, we can relate to the feeling of needing ad hoc help from kind, trustworthy, reliable people who appreciate that all animals are different and their habits and preferences are usually as non-negotiable as they are urgent.
Today, we enjoy spending time with guest animals – and maybe because our time with them is limited we do not mind navigating through the chaos, mayhem, toys, muddy shoes, getting up early, loads of washings of blankets and towels, stepping barefoot on pieces of carrots, and spending time outdoors no matter the weather.
But of course none of our efforts can ever be met with the enthusiastic tail wagging we see when you walk back through the door!
